Two films are winners
Lily Engel awarded
student radio/ TV honors

awards ceremony this evening.
Harford Xtreme Showcase's pitcher/ OF Lily Engel can produce a video as deftly as she tosses a softball.

She demonstrated this tonight at Polytech High School's “Aperture Awards”. The accolades are presented for work done by radio & TV students during the school year.

Almost all the honors awarded were for productions by student teams.

First, Lily and Becca McCutcheon picked up “Best Statement Video” for a video short titled “Open your eyes”. The film artfully followed a young ballerina diligently preparing for opening night.

Then, Lily, Becca, Emily Schultz, and Vimani Baxter were recognized for “Best Holiday Short”.

The holiday video starred Lily, first secretly stuffing a gift box with her name, next finding herself deluged in gift wrapped boxes, then having the presents angrily taken away by fellow student, but ending with Lily charitably presenting the only gift she had left to a student who had been left empty handed.

There were nine awards given from about 30 student productions.

Lily's good friend, Becca McCutcheon, who also shared in Lily's two awards, won the top honor, “Best Director”, for the second year in a row.

Lily and Becca celebrated their recognition with a night out. Where did they go? Where else – the movies!
