Two Xtreme players on team
Mount deSales Academy
off to a great softball start

The Mount deSales Academy Sailors, Catonville, Md, have started the high school softball season with a solid winning tally. That wasn't necessarily assumed to be so automatic a while ago.

Emma Mires
Last year, the team graduated seven starting seniors. This year, just two seniors are on the squad, and only one of them is a returning varsity player.

No matter, the team has stepped up with winning determination. Its been relatively smooth sailing so far. There's been but a single loss.

Lori Sena

The Sailors currently hold a 5-1 record.

Harford Xtreme Showcase sophomore OF, 3rd, utility Emma Mires and sophomore second, third, catcher Lori Sena play important roles on the team.

The Sailors looks sharp on the field, too, with new helmets and pants thanks to a generous donation from Louise DeFeo in remembrance of William DeFeo (avid softball fan, player and long time coach), Emma and Cee Cee’s grandmother, and recently deceased grandfather, known as “Grammie” and “Grammie-Dad” to everyone.

Over spring break, deSales will face their toughest opponent who has been a real challenge in the past.

“We’re ready for them this year,” says an always positive Emma. It promises to be a great game.
