2 ranked HS squads
16 inning game,
34 batters punched out

You will need a double take on this one.

A regular softball contest runs seven innings.

This game totaled 16 innings -- that's the length of 2+ games!

In a normal seven innings, if every batter struck out, which, of course, never, ever happens, the Ks would number 21 for one side.

This game totaled 34 third strikes -- for a single team's batting order!

And, the pitching on both sides was superb as two nationally ranked high school teams battled each other Monday night.

Poland (Ohio) Seminary softball pitcher
Erin Gabriel was the strike out artist as she led her Bulldogs to a 2-1 victory over Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage School.

Gabriel is a member of the 2010-11 U.S. Junior National Team, where she was the youngest player on the team. She also won an U-18 gold medal at the 2010 Pan American Games.
