hitter & pitcher of the week

This blog missed it last week, but the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) named two hometown Maryland college players from Catholic University of America the Division II- South “hitter of the Week” and “Pitcher of the Week”. The honor was announced Tuesday, March 27, 2012.

ECAC Hitter of the Week

Taylor Stocking
Taylor Stockinger – Catholic University of America

Junior, Third Baseman, Olney, Md.

Stockinger led Catholic University to a 4-0 record last week after going 8-for-13 at the plate with 11 RBI and six runs scored. She highlighted her week with a 3-for-4 performance in a victory over Randolph-Macon College in which she hit a home run and batted in three runs. Stockinger also went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored in a win over Juniata College.

ECAC Pitcher of the Week

Erin McMakin
Erin McMakin – Catholic University of America

Sophomore, Pitcher, Olney, Md.

McMakin had a stellar week for Catholic as she posted a 3-0 record with a 1.31 ERA and 16 strikeouts as well as picking up her second career no-hitter. The no-hitter came in a 4-1 victory over Randolph-Macon College in which she fanned eight and walked one over the seven inning outing. McMakin is 8-1 on the season with a 2.01 ERA over 59.1 innings pitched.
