Md high school game
Gators slip by Sailors, 2-1,
Mires scores, Sena doubles

The Mount de Sales Sailors versus Seton Keough Gators high school softball game was everything as expected: a close, tight contest with exceptional pitching, great defense, and a battle to the final out.
Emma Mires

Last year, both games were one run losses for Mount de Sales.

This year was no exception with all the scoring occurring in the first inning yesterday as the Gators once again triumphed by a lone run with the final tally of 2-1.

Two Harford Xtreme Showcase players' hard-pounding bats were at the center of two key moments to plate Sailor runs.

It was Mount de Sales' Harford Xtreme Showcase's outfielder, third base, catcher Emma Mires who started the scoring with one out in the first inning.

Batting second, Emma drove a single to left field. Then, her speed took over, as claimed second on a wild pitch, raced to third, and sped home on a hot grounder snared at first base.

Lori Sena
Anchored behind the plate in the catcher's gear, Harford Xtreme Showcase's catcher, second, third base player Lori Sena handled the Sailors pitching for six shutout innings in the low scoring game.

Her bat announced her presence, too. She almost changed the course of the entire game with two-out double slammed to the outfield in the fourth inning, only to be left stranded on second base.
