“Delaware State University softball senior Jordan Reid (Accokeek, Md.) has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the third consecutive season, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon...

“Reid is currently first in the MEAC and 24th in the NCAA with a .425 batting average. She is also ranked nationally in the top 25 in runs per game (1.05; 19th), hit by pitches per game (0.33; 20th) and triples (4; 25th). The centerfielder led her conference counterparts in on-base percentage (.507) and runs scored (41). Additionally, Reid has two home runs, four triples, six doubles, 15 stolen bases and 15 RBI in 113 at-bats for Delaware State this season... 

“The decorated softball player was also named the Delaware State University Female Student-Athlete of the Year for the second straight year at the annual DESPY Awards, held in April. Reid, the 2012 MEAC Preseason Player of the Year, has won two MEAC Player of the Week honors this season (April 2, 30) and was also tabbed the College Sports Madness Player of the Week for March 6.

“In 2011, Reid was the first DSU softball player to be named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Mid-Atlantic First Team and finished second in the NCAA with a .497 batting average, which led the MEAC by nearly 90 points. Additionally, Reid broke a school record with 77 hits on the season.

“Reid's named is dotted all over the Hornet softball career records as she is fourth in hits (189), triples (11), stolen bases (58) and runs scored (135).

“Reid also excels academically; earning Dean's List honors for five out of her seven semesters enrolled at DSU and is a member of the Pi Gamma Mu honor society. Additionally, she has received 2011 and 2012 MEAC Commissioner's All-Academic Team honors and was a 2010 NFCA Scholar-Athlete.”
