Freshman slides home 
as Rams win in eighth

SHEPHERD RAMS 

“Freshman pinch-runner Elisa Orlandi (Owings, MD/ Northern) slid under the tag at the plate... in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Shepherd University to a 1-0 win Fairmont State in the nightcap in softball doubleheader action at Shepherd on Wednesday. The Falcons rallied for a 4-3 win in game one."

In the earlier game, “Shepherd took a 1-0 advantage in the first inning in game one when Chelsie Oals led off with a single and later scored on a single off the bat of freshman outfielder Tayler Schaefer (Dunkirk, MD/Northern).

“The Rams added a pair in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Freshman designated player Savannah Snyder (Elkton, MD/Padua Academy) tripled and scored on a single by senior second baseman Delaney Bell (Glen Burnie, MD/Archbishop Spalding).”

SHIPPENSBURG RAIDERS 

“The Shippensburg University softball team dropped both ends of a PSAC Eastern Division doubleheader to East Stroudsburg on a frigid and windy Tuesday afternoon from Robb Field, losing a 4-3 heartbreaker and a 15-7 decision in six innings.

Maddie Justice

In game one “sophomore Marygrace Serra (Silver Spring, Md) singled her home on the first pitch she saw. It was the first hit and RBI of the season for Serra, who advanced to second on the throw home.... Freshman Maddie Justice (Bishopville, Md) then came to the plate and singled home Serra to put the Raiders up 2-1.”

In game two “SU was able to get three back in the bottom of the fourth – plating runs on a RBI-groundout by freshman Emmie Burke (Bel Air, Md), a sacrifice fly from Lehman and an RBI-single from Shumway...

“Freshman Jessie Trammell (Ijamsville, Md) earned the start at designated player in Game 2 and finished 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.”

GOLDEY-BEACOM LIGHTNING 


“Lightning edged Holy Family by a 4-3 margin... senior Jordan Waterloo (Thomas Stone H.S./Waldorf, Md.) tied the game on an RBI single” and later scored.

“From there, sophomore pitcher Roni Peters (Leonardtown H.S./Leonardtown, Md.) retired six straight Holy Family hitters to thwart the Tigers' comeback attempt and earn her seventh win of the season.”

STEVENSON MUSTANGS 

“Stevenson softball senior Lisa Bilski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) totaled three hits while sophomore Lindsay Kuczak (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) had two, but the Mustangs dropped both games of a CAC doubleheader to York (Pa.) Wednesday at Spartan Stadium, 8-1 and 7-3.”
