FRIDAY / SACRED HEART PIONEERS: “SHU won a pair of Northeast Conference games Friday afternoon against Fairleigh Dickinson, 6-3 and 6-5...” In the second game: “two sides traded runs in the second inning with Jade Bowins (Frederick, MD) coming up with a RBI single to knot the score at 3-3.” Jade was 4-for-7 on the day.

FRIDAY/ NORTH CAROLINA WOLFPACK: “Wolfpack softball swept a doubleheader against Boston College (19-15, 1-7 ACC) today at Curtis and Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium. The Pack cranked out 20 hits and knocked five home runs en route to defeating the Eagles by a score of 10-3 in both contests.

Emily Weiman (Pasdadena, Md) went the distance in the victory. She surrendered two earned runs on five hits and struck out nine Boston College hitters in the contest.”

►  FRIDAY/ VIRGINIA CAVALIERS: “The Virginia softball team (19-17, 5-7 ACC) lost a doubleheader to No. 23 North Carolina 2-0 and 7-6 Saturday as the Tar Heels swept the series at The Park.

“Junior pitcher Melanie Mitchell (White Plains, Md.) was perfect through five innings of game one and allowed just one earned run in the 2-0 defeat.”

FRIDAY / GEORGE WASHINGTON COLONIALS: “The George Washington softball team smashed five home runs...” to defeat “ Atlantic 10 rival Temple,11-7, for its second straight conference victory. Junior Autumn Taylor (Severna Park, MD)… homered for the Colonials, who have combined to hit seven home runsin the last two games.


FRIDAY/ GEORGETOWN HOYAS: “The Georgetown University softball team (15-22, 0-5 BIG EAST) dropped a doubleheader against DePaul (20-12, 4-1 BIG EAST) at Guy Mason Field this afternoon by a score of 4-0 in each game.

“In the first game of the doubleheader, the Hornets scored at least one run in all but two innings en route to the 8-1 victory.

SATURDAY/ WASHINGTON SHOREWOMEN: “Visiting Washington College and host Dickinson split a Centennial Conference softball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Dickinson Park. The Red Devils won game one by a 4-3 score in nine innings, while the Shorewomen rebounded to take game two, 7-2.  

“Washington made it 2-1 in the top of the third when Dockrill singled home sophomore Kylie Nottingham (Ocean City, MD/Stephen Decatur)...

“Kylie Nottingham went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. The Shorewomen had nine hits in game two. In the circle, senior Jill Piasecki (Galena, MD/Kent County) got the win and improves to 6-3. She went six innings, allowing seven hits, two runs, one earned, walking two and striking out three to get the win...

Towson got all the offense Lingmai would need in the top of the fourth. Senior second baseman Haley Stueckler (Huntingtown, Md) singled leading off the frame and stole second... Senior pinch-hitter Courtney Wittner delivered an RBI single to plate Stueckler with the game’s first run.
