"The boxes"
New exercise introduced
"PLYOMETRICS" is the term used by professional trainers. The Harford Xtreme Showcase players just
call it "the boxes"!
Box runs, box drops are the latest
station added to the team's weekly practice sessions. Players
step in a running motion on and off the boxes, bound with two feet
up
and back down from the boxes, or jump side-to-side over the boxes.
This fast paced exercise is a full body workout with special
attention
to the leg muscles for building strength, power, and first-step
quickness. It helps launch rapid, explosive motion whether running,
fielding, throwing, or even hitting the softball. It especially improves
sprinting,
jumping, swift changes of direction, and overall agility.
