In the second game, sophomore pitcher Kathryn Larson, Frederick, Md, started in the circle. She was relieved by freshman pitcher Rachel Johnson, Preston, Md, who struck out six batters in her five and two-third inning span. Junior second base CarlyRead, Catonsville, Md, narrowed the score to 3-2, Roanoke's favor, when she singled for an RBI and then scored on a wild pitch.

With two outs in the top of the seventh, sophomore catcher Virginia Walther, Salisbury, Md, hit her first career home run as a Sea Gull. Then, junior catcher Michelle Gravdahl, Ellicott City, Md, walked, followed by a single from junior first base Lindsay Brown, Ellicott City, Md. This set up Lindsay McCabe to drive a double into right field that easily scored both runners. It all was not enough – just a single run shy – for a chance to notch a win.
