Washington Colonials lost a tough 6-5 decision to Buffalo
Bulls. Junior outfielder Autumn
Taylor, Severna Park, Md, kept it close, however, going 2-for-4 on the day with a run
scored and a RBI double belted to the opposite field.

► MOUNTAINEERS & DE HORNETS: The
Mount St.
Mary's Mountaineers triumphed 4-3 over the Delaware
State University Hornets, who lost both ends of their double
header, also falling 2-0 to the McNeese
State Cowgirls. Later The Mount could not overcome the no hit
pitching of the St.
Bonaventure Bonnies.
For the Delaware Hornets, senior second
base Jordan
Reid, Accokeek, Md, back-to-back MEAC Player of the Year, hit
3-for-6, twice smacking hard hit doubles against the Cowgirls.

► MUSTANGS: The Stevenson
University Mustangs were without a hit yesterday going into the
seventh against the Meredith
Avenging Angels.
Then, sophomore Lindsay
Kuczak, Bel Air, Md, sent a one-out shot to left, which was the
Mustangs only hit of the game in a 1-0 loss. The Avenging Angels only
managed two hits themselves.

► VA HORNETS: Junior catcher Denise
Mitchell, Ellicott City, Md, had a big game for the Shenandoah
Hornets in a 6-5 squeaker over the #7 Salisbury
Sea Gulls. She went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored.

► RETRIEVERS: The UMBC
Retrievers downed the Princetown
Tigers 7-2 behind the windmill arm of senior pitcher Katie Ferguson, North East, Md, who threw a complete game to pick up her
first win of the year. Katie yielded only two earned runs on eight
hits, while striking out five Tigers. She also slammed out her own hit at the plate.

were scoring when senior catcher, first base Angela
Yannone, Pasadena, Md, was hit by a pitch and
sophomore second base,
utility Caitlin
Chance, Easton, Md, was forced home.
Three hometown Marylanders had a hit with an
RBI: Caitlin
Chance, senior third base Jessica
Warner, Huntingtown, Md, and freshman utility Mary
Hartman, Eldersburg, Md, who had a double and two RBIs.

► SHOREWOMEN: The Washington
College Shorewomen battled the Rutgers-Newark
Scarlet Raiders back and forth through seven innings in the
afternoon, but finally lost 7-4. However, a combo Shorewomen pitching
team of senior Jill Piaseckior, Galena,
Md, and junior Brittany
Walter, Forest Hill, Md, only allowed one earned run! Brittany
struck out five Scarlet Raiders in five innings.

Junior second base Shaelan
Nottingham, Ocean City, Md, socked a two-run home run to
centerfield to send herself and sister sophomore catcher Kylie
Nottingham, Ocean City, Md, home in the bottom of the second. The
blast tie the game at 2-2. Kylie, 2-for-3 on the day, would score
twice more in later innings on singles by freshman DH Suzanne
Patinella, Fallston, Md and by her sister again, Shaelan
Nottingham, who also was 2-for-3 along with 3 RBIs and the
aforementioned dinger.

► SPECIAL NOTE: In the Shorewomen's night
game, freshman pitcher, outfielder Kristin
Cooper struck out 13 Randolph WildCats in her collegiate
pitching debut as Washington College won 9-5.
Kristin is not a hometown
Marylander, but hails, oh so close, from the Eastern Shore's nearby
Georgetown, Delaware.
Kristin struck out the side in the bottom of the second and fourth innings and fanned at least one WildCat in every inning, but the third. She is the first Shorewoman to strike out 10 or more batters in a game since 2004.
