PLAYER OF WEEK: "With the season recently underway, Delaware State senior Jordan Reid (Accokeek, Md.) is starting to rack up the weekly honors as the outfielder was named the CollegeSportsMadness.com MEAC Player of the Week.

Jordan batting .563
"Reid, who led her team to a 3-2 record to open the season, is currently hitting .563 with nine hits, including two doubles and a triple.  The back-to-back MEAC Player of the Year and 2012 Preseason Player of the Year most recently went 3-for-4 with a triple and RBI in the Hornets' 2-1 victory over the University of North Florida.

"Delaware State defeated St. Bonaventure, Mount St. Mary's and UNF to win this past weekend's UNF Osprey Invitational."

HOME OPENER: The Rider University Broncs opened their 2012 schedule today with a doubleheader split against the Drexel University Dragons.

In the first game, the Broncs broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning when junior catcher Sam Pugh, Elkton, Md, doubled home a run. That was the only score needed as Rider's dominant pitching shut out the Dragons 2-0.

In the night cap, everyone's bats were hotter. This time, the Drexel would triumph 10-5, but not before they heard from a pair of hometown Maryland freshmen (pictured below).

Allysen Breeden

Rider freshman second base, outfield Amanda Irving, Westminster, Md, hit 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Freshman catcher, third base Allysen Breeden, Hagerstown, Md, was 1-for-3, also with an RBI.

Allysen leads the Broncs in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, doubles, home runs and RBIs.
