► SALISBURY WINS 4-2: The No. 18 Salisbury University Sea Gulls took the early advantage against Virginia Wesleyan College Marlins yesterday, when a home run in the first inning knocked in junior catcher Michelle Gravdahl, Ellicott City, Md, who had singled through the left side.


The Sea Gulls strengthened their lead during the second inning from a double to left field by Sophomore outfielder Molly Gigioli, Laurel, Md, that scored a run. Molly also would race home on a couple of fielding errors by the Marlins.

 Freshman pitcher Rachel Johnson, Preston, Md, kept the Marlins guessing as she pitched the first five innings and then came back into the game in relief work. Rachel ended the game with six innings pitched, striking out eight batters.
