MD's college players
Two hometown Terrapins shine

Sloane Van Meter
BIG WINS TODAY: Both the #11 Michigan Wolverines and the Long Island Blackbirds fell this afternoon to the University of Maryland Terrapins.

Two previous Maryland high school stars made significant contributions for the Terps.

THREE HITS: Senior outfielder Sloane Van Meter, formerly of Archbishop Spalding, Hanover, MD, had three hits on the day and scored a run.

Kaitlyn Schmeiser
FIRST PITCHING START: Freshman pitcher Kaitlyn Schmeiser, formerly of Northern High, Dunkirk, MD, stepped into the circle for her first college career start against the LIU Birds. She pitched a complete game, going seven strong innings, allowing just two hits, and striking out nine!

GREAT START: “It feels great to have such a good start to the season,” said head coach Laura Watten. “We had a total team effort in both games today, offensively and defensively, and it’s just a great sign of our potential this year.”
