Back-to-back shutouts, while...
Cardinals, Mustangs split

The Stevenson Mustangs scored a season-high nine runs and posted their first shutout in the second game of a doubleheader against Catholic University Cardinals last week.


But it was the Cardinals and sophomore pitcher Erin McMakin, Olney, Md that dominated the first game as she pitched her team to the win column by a score of 4-0.

Erin was the star of game one, after allowing just three hits in seven innings, while striking out five.

Mustang senior shortstop Lisa Bilski, Forest Hill, Md, had two of the hits off of Erin as she was 2-for-3 with a double.


On the day, the Mustang offense was led by sophomore third base Kristen Fassler, Owings Mills, Md, who was 2-for-4 with one RBI, a walk and two runs scored.

Stephanies Ayres
In the Mustangs victorious game two, freshman designated player Rebecca Biddle, Greensboro, Md, hit 1-for-3 with 2 RBI, and sophomore center fielder Lindsay Kuczak, Bel Air, Md, also slammed 1-for-3 with 2 RBI, and a run scored.

Stevenson broke open a scoreless game with five runs in the top of the third, highlighted by a two-run single by Kuczak, and an RBI-double by freshman second base Stephanie Ayres, Upper Marlboro, Md.

The Mustangs sealed their fifth win of the season in the top of the fifth, scoring two on Biddle's triple and the last on a single to right by senior pich hitter Brittany King, Bel Air, Md.
