USF Bulls win a big one

The #23 University of South Florida Bulls shocked the #15 Michigan Wolverines in a 2-0 triumph yesterday that was based on shutout pitching and errorless defense as well as timely hitting from sophomore shortstop Kourtney Salvarola, Arnold, Md. Kourney was 1-for-3 on the day with an important RBI.

Bre Lohman
SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER: The Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers climbed past the St. Bonaventure Bonnies 7-0 yesterday in the first half of a doubleheader. But the Bonnies struck back with a close 4-3 win in the nightcap.

Kelly Hickman
In game one, sophomore first base, outfield Bre Lohman, Sharpsburg, Md, singled in the top of the sixth, which would lead to four runs scored. Freshman shortstop, catcher Holly Buckel, Finksburg, Md, also contributed with a 1-for-3 day. Junior designated hitter Kelly Hickman, Pasadena, Md, drew two walks, while junior Erin Leddy, Great Mills, Md, faultlessly managed the centerfield chores.

Danni Cummings
In game two, freshman pitcher Danni Cummings, Calvert County, Md, handled the relief work, taking over in the top of the fourth and tossing the final three innings.
