It all began auspiciously enough for the Sea Gulls. Sophomore Harley Hill, Huntingtown, Md, started off the first with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, and raced home on junior first base Lindsay Brown’s, Ellicott City, Md, base hit. Next inning, sophomore outfielder Molly Gigioli’s, Laurel, Md, single plated still another run.

The Captains would strike back to tie the game and go ahead with a homer in the seventh. Still, the Sea Gulls came right back, threatening again with the potential tying run on base when junior catcher Michelle Gravdahl, Ellicott City, Md, walked in the last inning, but she was stranded to end the game.

In the second game Salisbury freshman pitcher Rachel Johnson, Preston, Md, entered the circle to pitch a deadlock game until the sixth when The Captains edged ahead 2-1, and picked up three more in the seventh.
Rachael impressively struck out 11, walked just two, in her seven innings of work.
Harley Hill batted 2-for-4 in BOTH games -- 4-for-8 for the day -- with the key RBI in the opener.
► HIGH SCORE SEESAW: The Wesley College Wolverines battled the Penn State-Altoona Lions yesterday. Down 9-5, Wesley freshman utility Brynae Goodley, Chesapeake City, Md, blasted a bases loaded, base clearing double, which, after two additional runs scored later, enabled a tie game at 9-9. The Wolverines could not hold on, however, falling 14-10 in the end.
