BASHING HOME RUNS

Reports about HOMETOWN MARYLAND softball players on the college & university playing fields.

Suzanne Patinella


FIRST HOME RUN, 3-FOR-3 GAME: In a game that featured freshman shortstop Suzanne Patinella, Fallston, Md, walloping her first collegiate home run, the Washington College shorewomen overcame Centenary 6-2 on Wednesday. Later in the day, they also beat Framingham State 7-3.

Suzanne went 3-for-3 with a walk, 2 RBI, and a run score against Centenary, while junior center fielder Lindsey Glascock, Glenwood, Md, belted out a 2-for-3 game with a walk, a stolen base, and a run scored.

The running game was on, too, with stolen bases from Suzanne, Lindsey, sophomore catcher Kylie Nottingham, Ocean City, Md, and junior second base Shaelan Nottingham, Ocean City, Md.

Senior Jill Piasecki, Galena, Md, got the win for the Shorewomen, allowing three runs, two of them earned, on five hits and two walks in five innings.









Jessica Warner

FIFTH HOME RUN OF SEASON: The UMBC Retrievers defeated Siena, 3-2, and then fell to St. Francis (Pa.), 7-1, on Wednesday.  

Sophomore third base Jessica Warner, Huntingtown, Md, led the Retrievers, going 3-for-7 in the two games, hitting her fifth homerun of the season in the second game.

In the first game of the day, senior pitcher Katie Ferguson, North East, Md, threw her sixth complete game of the season to pick up the win. Ferguson recorded six strikeouts while only giving up only two earned runs.


Junior pitcher Heather Brown, Pasadena, Md, started the second game, where junior outfielder Kaela Mason, Bel Air, Md, singled to load the bases in the sixth.

Then, sophomore second base Caitlin Chance, Easton, Md, made the big blow, knocking a single to right-center, scoring Mason and another run.

CLUBS HOME RUN, STRIKES OUT 12: The Goldey-Beacom College Lightning extended their win streak to 8 games by beating Lincoln University 18-0 and 16-0 on Wednesday.

Sophomore pitcher, second base Roni Peters, Leonardtown, Md, smashed a home run, while also picking up a win, striking out 12 over 4 innings, and allowing one hit and one walk.

On the day, senior first base, third base Jordan Waterloo, Waldorf, Md, had a single, RBI, and 4 runs scored and senior utility, pitcher Shannon O’Hara, LaPlata, Md, single and a run scored.
